While many might drive past these purple spires, I was struck by how they reached toward the clouds, creating a perfect vertical contrast with the soft, rolling horizon.

What I love about Hoary Vervain is its ‘hoary’ or silvery-gray appearance, which comes from the tiny white hairs that protect the plant from the hot Minnesota sun. It’s a quintessential scene of the ‘unnoticed beauty’ found in our native prairies—a plant that is as tough as it is beautiful.
